I was born in Burma (Myanmar) and grew up in a family that loved to eat and cook. When we are not doing these two things, we are inevitably talking about food. Food remains a common passion, a connection that keeps us close to our roots and comforts us when we think about Burma and when we are missing Burma.

When I was 8 I left Burma, unable to speak a word of English, to be reunited with my mother in England. She left two years previously and worked extremely hard to save enough money to send for her children and here I am.

Today, together with my husband, Christopher, who shares the same passion for eating Burmese food and photography, we travelled to Myanmar which was the start of Hsaba.

Hsaba means please eat and is dedicated to my mother, an amazing and talented woman whom never ceases to inspire me. All the recipes are treasured family favourites and they have been carefully refined and tested so that everyone can create the taste of Burma in their own homes.
